The first two weeks of an Evolution’s building process happens at the Evolution Aircraft home base in Redmond, Oregon, but what happens next? How does it get to a builder assistance shop or even the owner’s own hangar for completion?
The trip usually takes place in a 24-foot box truck or on a flatbed trailer as shown here. The Evolution’s wings are removed easily for the trip and the completed fuselage is rotated a bit to allow the bonded-in horizontal stabilizer to stay out of traffic! Most pro builders have cradles already made up for this or Evolution Aircraft can supply them. Recently, Performance One, based in Mesa AZ, and one of our great Pro Assistance shops was in Redmond to assist a new customer and take his Evolution back to Arizona for completion. Shown is this Evolution on the trailer, leaving Redmond for the 15 hour Drive.
